It has been awhile since my last entry and I apologize for my lack of interest to be posting on here lately. I will update you on my life and shoots that I’ve done thus far.

On March 30th 2010 I got married. Yes this is true… I’m in love  :) I am going to Europe for about a Year and I am very scared and excited. My husband and I will be going to Albania to visit my family for a few weeks then going to make our way over to Greece, Italy and hopefully France and England. These trips are all just what we would like to do but things might change as the months go by. I will be updating my blog more often with stories and photos of my trips around Europe :) So keep in touch and lets go have an adventure!

Below I have attached a few photos that I have done during my time away from my blog. So enjoy!

It has been awhile since my last entry and it’s mainly because I’ve been busy with shoots and busy trying to keep my world in tack. I’ve been going through some personal things (life etc). It all starts to take a toll on you and after awhile you start to cave in, you begin to suffer more and more inside and out.  It’s been a long ass road and exhausting too. So as shitty as I may feel and as much as I would like to run into a hole and hide there forever, I know I can’t. I tend to forget that as much as I’m suffering there is someone else out there that is hurting just as much or even more than I am. So here is a song for all you folks out there that need to see that tomorrow is a brand new day!

Musical “Annie” – Tomorrow Lyrics

[ANNIE]
The sun’ll come out Tomorrow
Bet your bottom dollar
That tomorrow
There’ll be sun!

Just thinkin’ about
Tomorrow
Clears away the cobwebs,
And the sorrow
‘Til there’s none!

When I’m stuck a day
That’s gray,
And lonely,
I just stick out my chin
And Grin,
And Say,
Oh!

The sun’ll come out
Tomorrow
So ya gotta hang on
‘Til tomorrow
Come what may
Tomorrow! Tomorrow!
I love ya Tomorrow!
You’re always
A day

Here are some photos both old and new… Enjoy! :)

Feeling The Agony

I am sure many of you know about spam, you get it in your emails all the time by random people that you don’t even know all over the world. Now this is starting to happen with not just random people but also people you know, have met or are even friends with… I have to say I get about 10 request  a day from people that are on my facebook asking me to be their fan or come to an event they are having 4958394759348 miles away from me. Not to mention once you say no it keeps happening over and over again! Annoying huh? Well here is an awesome post I was shown by Martin about spam and what it means.

I can not agree more with what this thing says!

Spam is a way of thinking Matt Feb 15

REWORK Q&A with Jason at 800 CEO READ.com. Questions include: What are some of the ways that “big” can work against a company and their ideas? How and when does productivity best happen? And this one:

How is spam more than just an email issue?

Spam is a way of thinking. It’s an impersonal, imprecise, inexact approach. You’re merely throwing something against the wall to see if it sticks. You’re harassing thousands of people hoping that a couple will respond.

Press releases are spam. Each one is a generic pitch for coverage sent out to hundreds of journalists you don’t know hoping that one will write about you.

Resumés are spam when someone shotguns out hundreds at a time to potential employers. They don’t care about landing your job, they just care about landing any job.

Spam is basically a half-ass way of getting someone’s attention. It’s insulting, really.

A much better route: Be personal. Call someone. Or write a note. If you read a story about a similar company or product, contact the journalist who wrote it and pitch them with some passion. If you want a job, write an amazing cover letter that explains why you’d love to work there.

Don’t rely on the shotgun approach of spam though. If you invest nothing in your interactions, you probably won’t get much back.

Also, kind words from 800 CEO Read’s Jon Mueller about the book:

This isn’t just a book about changing your business, it’s about changing how you think about business, and is, perhaps, one of the most important books you’ll read this year. (Comes out March 9th 2010)

Yesterday I got to shoot cute little kids. I never thought it would be so hard. They were both great kids but very different personalities. I shot one girl and one boy. Shy and awkward its what they were at first but I believe I warmed them up long enough to get some nice pictures of them.

Here are some of the photos… Enjoy!

Kids Shoot

Tonight I had the pleasure of meeting up with an old friend that I had worked with about a year and a half ago when she styled one of my shoots. We always kept in touch but haven’t been able to meet up because of our hectic schedules.

Anywho Raji and I went out for a drink and had about a 3 hour conversation about everything and anything that came to mind. I found many things that we talked about quite interesting and also eye opening and refreshing. One of the many things we discussed that I found relevant to my work as a photographer and interesting enough to open a conversation with other photographers is “How much photographers put/give a part of themselves into their photographs”.

I have a great friend named Sai that told me “Erlinda you need to put more of yourself into your photographs, your story; who you are” and I pondered that statement for a few months thinking to myself. “Why? why must I share myself with others that don’t know my face let alone my name.” Raji and I began to question this, thinking; why do some photographers open themselves up to those that do not know them nor their life story. What makes those faceless people so important enough for you to allow them to view you not only as a photographer but also as a human being that breathes, feels, loves, hurts etc.

Raji began to state that she believed most photographers don’t give themselves completely but instead give little fragments of themselves. Tiny Little pieces here and there that only one day if you bring all those photos together can create their story.

As a photographer I’m behind the lens not to tell my story but to tell the story of others or a story I created in my mind. Why tell my story? What makes my story worth hearing about than any other persons story out there? Why share my sorrow, my tears and my fears about my life? Why go in depth about the pain I feel?

Most artist would say there is no other way to go about creating something if you don’t give a part of yourself to it and I say sure you might be right about that but how much is too much? I start to wonder if one day I go down that road where I give those pieces of me to my work, to my photographs will there be anymore of me left for myself?

Today my friends was a lovely productive day. I went around to a few agencies to show my portfolio. I had the pleasure of meeting Roseanna Plutino and Amanda Munoz (artist agents for Plutino) also Brandon Hall and Daisy Chew (model agents from Sutherland Models). It was great to see what they had to say about my work and what else I need to work on and improve. So far I’ve gotten positive feedback and I am looking forward to working with their talent!

If you wish to view their website click on their names :)
